Young People Taking Back Their Power
REFLECTIONS FROM THE WHO AM I SUMMIT 2018
All young women were invited to join us for an essential discussion of Self-Identity and Self-Awareness at the spring “Who Am I” summit on Saturday, June 2nd at Humanim. Read the review below from one our participants.
If you are a Mom of a daughter you need to check out @abaltimoregirlsstory website and IG. @yal_me_kee_uhh_ is the founder of this company and have truly created a platform for Mothers and their daughters. As a mother to a 15 year old and step mom to an 11 year old, it can be hard at times trying to understand each girl and get them to speak freely about their feelings. Especially when as a Mom, I have not properly healed from my childhood traumas and devastations which has affected them in some way, shape or form. But through this platform, I have been able to reflect and understand exactly what each of the girls require. And good news is I don’t have to tackle this alone. I don’t have to be a perfect Mom and it’s never too late to make a difference and break generational curses! My girls left the event on Saturday, not only thanking me for bringing them but truly feeling empowered. The guest speakers poured so much into our girls. And I am grateful to God for using you Yalmikia! And thanks so much for the hands that braided Kyelle’s hair. She’s set for the week. Can’t wait until the next Summit and to partner with a community of woman who have dedicated their ministry to a Baltimore Girl’s Story.
What’s Your Story?
Our mission is to uplift the lives of teen girls and young women by teaching them self-awareness, self-identity, and self-wellness strategies to help them deal with and cope with everyday issues in the real world. ABGS sponsors tri-annual seminars, a mentoring program, and a monthly Lighthouse Workshop for a more personalized experience. Take a look around and see what we’re all about, and how we’re helping the community.
Stay abreast of our endeavors or just keep in touch. Through hope, empowerment, and resilience, we strive to thrive!
